Art Listings: Week of Oct. 19

Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery, 134 S. Montezuma, 776-7717. "Southwestern Images" features photography by Robert Maloney whose work focuses on landscapes and textures of the Southwest.

Beastro, 117 N. McCormick St. 227-2796. Artisan jewelry, art and more are available for purchase. All proceeds go to help rescued animals at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue.

Ben's Fine Art Gallery, 212 W. Gurley St., 420-0704. Famed saxophone player Jo Elless will perform at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. She has played with artists such as the Union Station Swing Band, Hollywood Wind Ensemble, Esperanza Spalding, Damn Well Please Organ Trio, Neara Russel and many others. She is known for her melodies and jazz sounds reminiscent of New Orleans. The event is free and family friendly. Joseph Leal will play his Native American flutes from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 during the 4th Friday Art Walk. The Prescott native has been playing his flutes more than 10 years. His music is spiritual, calm and soothing. Leal is inspired by his family and his job as a nurse in an intensive care unit where he plays for his patients. The work of Teresa Young, who turns recycled materials into art pieces, is now on display.

The Gallery at the Prescott Center for the Arts, 208 Marina St., 445-3286, www.pca-az.net. "Do You Know Me" features legendary figures and events, whether mythological, historical or contemporary, which have always fascinated artists. The exhibit will take viewers on a trip through time, with stories and biographies that accompany each work of art. The show runs until Nov. 3.

Miller Valley Indoor Art Market, 531 Madison Ave., 237-9282. "Birds of Prey," featuring the works of Rudolf Andranik Aton. Aton, who died in 2004, became a master falconer and developed an interest in birds of prey, especially eagles and falcons. His artistic interests eventually expanded to other species of birds and animals as he expressed his style of art on scratch board and canvas. His widow, Danielle, will donate a portion of the proceeds of any sales to the American Cancer Society of Northern Arizona.

Mountain Artists Guild & Gallery, 228 N. Alarcon St., 776-4009. "Art of Arizona," highlighting the works of 40 local artists, runs through Dec. 22.

Mountain Spirit Gallery, 140 S. Montezuma St. 445-2886. Specializes in oil paintings, bronze sculpture and photography.

Phippen Museum of Western Art, 4701 Highway 89 North, 778-1385, www.phippenartmuseum.org. "The Wild West," celebrating the diverse and rugged wildlife of the American West and featuring the works of Western sculptors and artists, runs until Oct. 28. "Arizonarama," three-dimensional scenes created by Prescott artist, the late R.G. Rodell, runs until Dec. 2.

Prescott College Art Gallery at Sam Hill Warehouse, 232 N. Granite St., 928-350-2341.

Prescott Valley Art Guild, 3380 N. Windsong Road (Good Samaritan Center), 775-4989. Featured artists are Paulette Bedford, Carol Holloway, Mei-June Liao and Florence Muscara, whose works feature oils, pastels, watercolor and mixed media. The exhibit runs through mid-January 2013.

The Smoki Museum of American Indian Art and Culture, 147 N. Arizona Ave., 445-1230. "Yoimasa, the Art of Fil Kewanyama," on exhibit through the end of the year. Like many Indian artists, Fill brings his cultural heritage to life in his paintings. Many of his painting will be for sale during the show.

Straight Arrow Studios and Gallery, 1724 Willow Creek Road, 925-4970. Works by Everett Davidson.

'Tis Art Center and Gallery, 105 S. Cortez St., 775-0223, www.tisartgallery.com. "Marvelous Mud and Fascinating Fiber: Ceramic and Fiber Creations by Carol Commins and Jo Maginelli is in the mezzanine gallery through Oct. 30. New selections of contemporary work by Prescott-area artists are in the main floor gallery through Nov. 20. A 4th Friday Art Walk reception will take place for both exhibits from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 26. Also, a free tour to Prescott's public art treasures with 'Tis Time Travelers Namae' Bloom and Clare McCourt will be Saturday and meets by 10:30 a.m. in front of the Buckey O'Neill Rough Rider statue on the courthouse plaza.

Van Gogh's Ear, 156 S. Montezuma St., 776-1080. The gallery features the contemporary works of more than 70 artists whose genres represent wall art, glass, ceramics, jewelry, wood, wearable art and more.
